Eastern Kentucky is at the heart of the opioid crisis in the United States.  Based on the statistics given by the National Institution of Drug Abuse (NIH), Kentucky is among the top ten states with the highest opioid-related overdose deaths.  In 2015, Kentucky providers wrote 97.0 opioid prescriptions per 100 persons (4.47 million prescriptions). In the same year, the average U.S. rate was 70 opioid prescriptions per 100 persons (IMS Health, 2016). ARO believes God has strategically positioned us to be part of the solution one life at a time.  ARO is now partnering with Thrive Community Coalition (www.thriveserves.com) whose goal is to "transform communities through relationships that nurture faith-inspired hope and holistic wellness in individuals and families".
